Tallest building in the Lloyd District?

Lloyd Center Tower

Lloyd Center Tower

I was at OHSU on the South Waterfront, on the ninth floor, and I looked over at the Lloyd District.  There were some tall buildings but one was taller than the others.  A couple of days ago, I went for a walk and tried to find it.

That’s easier said than done.  For two reasons.

First I remembered that the building was rectangular shaped, but I could not remember if the long side went north & south or east & west.  I told you, my memory is…

…inadequate.

Second, since the stroke, I have had incredible terrible vertigo.  The tops of trees are not a problem, but tall buildings?  I get dizzy.  I even tried holding onto a tree while I looked up at this building.  It didn’t work.

The tall white building is attached to the Lloyd Center mall through a skybridge that crosses Ninth Street (9th).  The building’s other cross street is Multnomah.

I was curious about that skybridge.

The building is called the Lloyd Center Tower (I knew that because there are signs all over that told me it was the Lloyd Center Tower), so I went where all good people go when they want ‘just the facts.’

Wikipedia.

I know the site is subject to error, but it has been helpful to me.

At 290 feet tall (twenty stories) the Lloyd Center Tower is the tallest building in the Lloyd District.

The exterior signage indicates major tenants are:  PacifiCorp, Integra, KeyBank, FamilyCare, Windermere, Ashforth Pacific inc., Advantis, and LazerQuick.

Later, I went back to find out about that skybridge.  There was a scary sign on the east entrance that said, “Locked.  Use West Entrance.”  I went to what I though was the west entrance, and it had a sign, too, “Locked.  Use West Entrance.”  I decided I was really at the south entrance.  Then I went to the west entrance.  Success!  The doors had no signs.

That entrance was locked.

To be fair, it was Sunday.  There were only about 20 cars in the lot.  The building was probably closed.  As I left the parking lot, a security guard walked by me on his rounds and said, “Hi.”

I think that is what he said.  If I didn’t say it before, I have a lousy memory.
