Another Walk – All in the Lloyd District
Needing to drop my Netflix envelope in the mailbox (I’m currently watching episodes from the second season of The Big Bang), I went up to Broadway. After I dropped the bright red envelope in the mailbox I figured I’d go for a walk.
This walk just happened. I didn’t plan it.
I walked down Broadway to Grand, turned left at the Walgreen’s on the corner, walked past McDonald’s, then crossed at the light, went past Wendy’s, and walked down Martin Luther King for awhile.
There was a building with a John L. Scott real estate office and a Subway. They also had five or six floors of apartments and a lot of them were for lease. I wonder how much it costs to rent there? Too much for me, I’m sure.
Continuing on my way, I walked past Red Robin and Burgerville (I have to stop at Burgerville someday – they’re on my list), passed Starbuck’s, and there I was – at the Convention Center.
The Convention Center has those two glass towers you see everywhere. People were leaving and I guess you had to enter by specific entrances, not any entrance. I guess all those other doors were so people could exit easily.
In front of the Convention Center was an electronic sign that announced upcoming conventions. Maybe I should have written them down because all I can remember is something about beads.
The southern end of the Convention Center ends at Lloyd Avenue, which (along with the 84) is the Southern border of the Lloyd District, then it winds around to parallel the river, so it follows the western border of the district, too. That was part of my walk.
Then I cut through (because I was tired) and caught the light rail (Max) at the Rose Garden, stayed aboard for three stops, got off at Holladay Park, and walked through the Lloyd Center to Safeway on Broadway.
From the deli, I bought sliced roast beef. Then I walked home.
After all my walks, you would think I wouldn’t get sore anymore.
Not true.
