Lloyd Avenue – Lloyd District’s Southern Border
If you walk on Lloyd Avenue, it’s a pretty walk. If you drive, it’s a lovely drive.
If you’re coming north on Grand, make the first right after you pass the 84 Freeway, and you will curve left, then right, with overhanging trees (a few traffic lights), then you will go downhill and curve sharply to the left as Lloyd Avenue turns into 16th Avenue, ending up on the east end of the Lloyd Center by Applebee’s. There, 16th becomes 15th, and you can go further east on Weidler or West on Broadway.
It’s a fun and pretty shortcut.
Or you could walk.
As a walk, it feels more like the valley just to the south belongs to a river more than a railroad and a freeway. It’s a pretty walk, too. Cherry blossoms litter the sidewalk, trees provide shade, and it doesn’t really matter what side you walk on – both sides are nice.
It’s like you left the city and escaped to the country for just a second.
I like it.
